What are the adoption fees?
The adoption fees range between $150-$400. This money helps cover the vet bills.
How do I adopt a Pug from Pug Rescue Network?
First you will need to fill out an adoption application and send it in.
Once we receive your application, your application will be reviewed by our Adoption
Committee. You will
be notified by mail when your application is approved or declined. Adoption Application
Where do Rescue Pugs come from?
Owner surrenders, breeders, local shelters, or found wondering the
streets.
Do you have any puppies?
Pug Rescue Network rarely receives puppies. If you are interested in a
puppy we can put you on a waiting list after you fill out an adoption
application, but you could be waiting a long time.
Do these Pugs have "papers"?
Most people mistakenly think that "having papers" (breed registration)
means that a dog comes from a "good background". Papers mean that both
parents are Pugs - nothing more. Pet Shop Puppy mill dogs have papers - they
are the unhealthiest dogs in the world! Papers do not guarantee that a Pug
will be free from genetic disease. If a Pug is turned in to our Rescue with
Papers, we keep them in their file with the Pug Rescue Network. There is no
need to pass them along once a Pug is Spayed or Neutered.
Do you ship Pugs?
The Pug Rescue Network does NOT ship Pugs. If you are interested in one
of our
Pugs and you are in another state you must be willing to travel to Michigan
to come pick up the
Pug.
Do you allow out of state adoptions?
We do allow out of state adoptions. However they do tend to take a
little longer because we need to work with other rescue groups or humane
societies to get the home check portion of the application completed. If you
are interested in one of our Pugs and you are in another state you must be
willing to travel to Michigan to come pick up the Pug. If you already
have dogs you will be required to bring them to Michigan.

How can I help the Pug Rescue Network?
Donations are always appreciated. If you would like to volunteer
please fill out the volunteer application. If you would like to foster
a Pug in need please fill out an foster home application.
What condition will my Pug be in when I adopt it?
Your adopted Pug will be current on their shots, spayed / neutered and
micro-chipped before they leave the Pug Rescue Network.

What is this adoption application, and why
is it so long?
Pug Rescue Network application asks a number of questions necessary for us
to begin to evaluate if the Pug that you saw in the photo online or on our
many flyers is really the best dog for your lifestyle. It may seem as though
we are asking more questions than needed, but really we are just getting the
basic information that will help us lead you to the dog best suited for you
and your family to be your lifelong companion. So please, it's incredibly
important for you as well as the Pug Rescue Network, that you complete the
entire application before submitting it to us.
Will you really call my references?
Yes, we will. As a matter of policy, we require at least two references of
individuals not
related to you but that can attest to your character and responsibility to
have a dog. It's actually very important for us to call these references to
get to know you and how you will relate to your new companion. We just want
to make sure that the match is a perfect one for both you and your new best
friend, and we have found that having a person supply references makes a
difference.
Do you really come to my house?
Oh yes! As part of our efforts to find "the right match", and therefore the
right home for
the Pug, our Adoption Counselors are required to visit your home before and
after the
adoption. This allows us to make observations about the Pug's interaction
with you and your family, especially with children and other pets.
The house visits also gives us the opportunity to make suggestions regarding
the
transitional adjustments required once the Pug is introduced to his/her new
home. We aren't trying to be invasive, we really want the best for both your
new companion and yourself.
The Pug Rescue Network will not adopt to anyone who does not agree to have
one of our Adoption Counselors visit the home before and after the adoption
is completed.
What is the "Adoption Agreement" for?
The Pug Rescue Network is required to have an "Adoption Agreement" signed by
every person who adopts one of our Pugs. The most important aspects of this
agreement is that the Pug will be kept as an indoor house pet, will be
treated with love, provided with food and water, proper veterinary care, and
cannot be given away to anyone other than the Pug Rescue Network. You should
carefully review this agreement before signing it.
What if the unthinkable happens and I can't keep my companion animal?
In accordance with the Adoption Agreement, if you are unable to keep the
Pug, the Pug Rescue Network will take the Pug back without any questions. We
are proud to honor our "no questions asked policy" if you have to return the
Pug.
How long does this whole process normally take?
The time varies in accordance with how complete the application is and how
accessible the new home and references are. Usually it takes about 4-6 weeks to finalize the whole adoption process. Keep in mind we are
solely staffed by volunteers that have full time jobs and also have foster
Pugs that need care.
How soon can I see my new best friend in person?
You can meet your new best friend at our coming events or at the pre-adoption meeting. This may vary depending upon
our schedule and the amount of
rescues needing attention at that time.
I don't know if I am ready for this?
Adopting a dog is a meeting of the heart as well as of the mind. It is a
lifetime commitment to an animal that will be your loving companion and your
best friend. We want to make this decision as easy as possible for you, so
if you are not sure you can take such a permanent step, please consider
volunteering to help this loveable breed.
