Available Pugs

We currently have 10 Pugs in rescue!

All of our pugs live in a foster home where they are given time to settle in. Based on what is observed in the foster home, the pug will then be placed in the most appropriate adoptive home. Basic obedience, crate training, housebreaking or reinforcing housebreaking, as well as socializing with other dogs, are among the functions of our foster homes.

Please note that we are a network of volunteers.  We do not have a facility for you to visit our Pugs.   Is a Rescue Pug Right for You?

Definitions:

Available - We are looking through our approved adoption applications to find an application that matches our rescue Pugs personality. At this stage we are contacting applicants to schedule a home check.

Medical Hold - We are looking through our approved adoption applications to find an application that matches our rescue Pugs personality, however, an adoption will not occur until an existing health issue is addressed.

Adoption Pending - Home check has been done and approved. We are now in the process of scheduling the pre-adoption meeting. If everything goes good at the pre-adoption meeting, the adoption will take place.

REMEMBER: We cannot discuss which Pug is right for you unless we have an approved application on file.  If you are looking to adopt a Pug, you NEED to get your adoption application in. While you may have fallen in love with one of our Available Pugs, we CANNOT do anything until we have an approved adoption application on file.

Why does it take 2-4 weeks for a applications to be reviewed?  We are all volunteers with full time jobs and families. Most of us also have foster dogs that we take care of. This includes teaching the Pugs their manners.  While we try to do things in a timely manner, things do come up, so please be patient with us. It is worth the wait to know you saved a Pug that was in need. The rescue Pug you adopt will thank you every day for rescuing them.

Paulie

We wish to welcome Paulie St. James. A cute, 4-5 year old who can be pinball one minute and a laid back dude the next. What ever you want to do, Paulie's right there. Paulie former family was forced to move and couldn't take him. He needs to put some weight on and was treated for a hot spot. He is being brought up to date on his shots.
Paulie mostly goes with the flow. Like most dogs he real excited when he see's his human again, but he will quickly calm down. He enjoys playing roughly with a stuffed toy, then will nurse on it. Paulie gets along very well with other dogs and kids. He is excellent in his crate. He can be a cuddler when you want.
Paulie will be learning to be patient, and to walk on a leash. He is eager to please and food driven making training easy

This is “Johnnie Be Good” Senior Head Anchor (note the promotion) reporting live from PRN Headquarters where I’d like to introduce one of our newest arrivals PRN#202

Miss. Dorothy “Dottie” Anne.  I’m in foster care with Miss. Dot and have had quite a bit of time to sit and chat with her. “Dot”, can you tell the people out there a little bit about yourself and how you came into rescue.

Well Johnnie, I was found wandering as a stray outside of a local tavern up in the northern part of Michigan. Hey, I was just out looking for a good hot bar burger and a cold margarita and somehow ended up in the local slammer!!! They were kind enough to call upon the Angels to come bail me out. One of the wonderful PRN Volunteers drove up and picked Miss. Birdie Bell Blossom and me up and transported us down here into Foster Care. I’ve got some pretty serious medical issues that need to be addressed but once that’s all taken care of I’ll be ready to let the Angels find me a “Forever Home”!!

I’ve also had time to sit with Pug Rescue Networks Vet Care Coordinator who also happens to be my Foster Mom and here what’s going on with Miss. Dots medical issues: Dottie was taken to PRNs wonderful vets on Tuesday 8/28/07. Dottie has a very large mammary tumor about the size of a baseball hanging off her along with several other tumors that run up and down both sides of her belly. X-Rays were taken to see what was going on inside Miss. Dot, the x-rays looked good. There were no signs of the dreaded “C” word and her heart and trachea looked good. Dot was given her Rabies and we started her DHPP series. A full Wellness blood panel was drawn and she was Heartworm Negative!! Her blood work did show a little elevation of her white blood cells so she was put on an antibiotic for a couple of weeks. On 8/30/07 Dot went in for a biopsy of the largest tumor on her and we are still awaiting the results. Once we have those back, we will determine her course of treatment. Along with the entire tumor removals Dot needs to be spayed and have her teeth cleaned. Her treatment will take time as all the tumors cannot be removed at once because (don’t mean to be graphic) but our vets wouldn’t be able to close her completely back up because there wouldn’t be enough skin left. So removal may have to be done in stages. Johnnie I just want to add as your know, this little girl has so much love and life in her!! She just amazes me everyday!! She acts like a puppy jumping on and off the couch, and running up and down the stairs. I’ve had a difficult job here of late trying to keep her from hurting herself after her biopsy because it hasn’t slowed her down one bit!!

Well all, I will update on Miss. Dot as soon as new information is given. Please keep my friend in your thoughts and prayers as she goes through her upcoming difficult medical procedures. I would love to see an application come in for this beautiful little girl. But, if you’re not able to apply for my friend Dot, please consider being a Sponsor for her. Our Angels could use the help taking care of her!! This is “Johnnie Be Good” reporting live from PRN Headquarters.

This is Johnny “Be Good” reporting live from PRN headquarters. Pug Rescue Network would like to welcome PRN #199 Chereso “Chewy” Clarice. This beautiful young lady is 3 ½ years old and boy does she like to snuggle. Chewy was living up in Northern Michigan with her grandparents. You see her Mom had to move to a place were there were no dogs allowed. Then the decision was made to turn “Chewy” over to PRN to find her the best possible home. Chewy is very good with children and loves human attention. Once “Chewy” is seen by the PRN veterinarian, brought up to date on her vaccines and micro chipped she will be ready to be adopted. So please submit an application and put PRN # 199 Chereso “Chewy” Clarice down as preference. This is Johnny “Be Good” reporting. In the next few weeks I may have a new assignment so keep your eyes on me!

This is “Jonnie Be Good” reporting live from PRN Headquarters where I’d like to introduce another one of our New Arrivals Mr. Santino “Sonny” Pugzini!! “Sonny”, can you tell our visitors a little bit about yourself and how you ended up in rescue.

Hi Johnnie, mine is a sad tale. My first family put me in a local paper listing me  “Free to good Home” they decided they didn’t want me anymore and wanted to travel. I know, it’s hard to believe!! I was taken by another family and was only with them for about 3 weeks, the family situation there was completely overwhelming for me and I started to act out defensively and was surrendered to Pug Rescue Network.

Folks, let me tell you, this guy came into rescue just a total mess!! He was full of huge open sores from his head to his tail from flea infestation, skin and bones and was just an emotional wreak. Foster Mom took him into our wonderful PRN vets where he was immediately put on antibiotics for the open sores. Once those were healed my friend “Sonny: was neutered and brought up do date on all his vaccinations. This guy is such a wonderful boy who really has gotten a bad rap in life!! Foster Mom gave him a “tough guy” name but he’s really a soft mushy sponge!! “Sonny” loves a little stuffed tiger toy, “Sonny” found security in his little tiger and nurses on his tiger and rolls over on his back and holds it with his front two paws and plays with it, it’s pretty funny to watch him!!! “Sonny” has come along way in rescue and we continue to build his self-confidence up. He used to get very defensive when chewing on his nylabone and growl at us but in time has come to trust Foster Mom and knows that she won’t let any of us take it from him and he very rarely does this anymore. He’s still a bit afraid when new people try and pet him and will lower his head or roll over on his back very submissively. “Sonny” loves to play fetch with his stuffed animals and is doing very well socializing with all the other Pugs in rescue. My friend is learning that no one will ever hurt him and is basking in the love that is given us daily at the Pug Rescue Network. “Sonny” would love to really find his “Forever Home” is it yours?? If you think so, please put in an application to adopt my friend “Sonny”. If you’re unable to adopt please consider being a Sponsor for Sonny and help us to continue to build his self-confidence and find his inner fawness!!! This is “Johnnie Be Good” reporting live from PRN Headquarters.

This is “Johnnie Be Good” Senior Head Anchor for Pug Rescue Network reporting live with our newest addition to rescue PRN#203 Miss. “Sara” Beth!!! “Sara” Beth came into rescue this holiday weekend and is on “Medical Hold” until she is seen and evaluated by our Ophthalmologist and PRN veterinarians. “Sara” was an owner surrender whose family knew our angels could give her the best possible chance at a wonderful and full life. You see, “Sara” is blind.  By looking at Sara’s eyes it looks like it could possibly be a genetic issue but until she’s seen and evaluated this is only a guess. “Sara” Beth will also need spayed and her vaccinations updated before she will be available for adoption. Please don’t let this little girl’s impairment get in the way or make you afraid to adopt her. She is just a teeny tiny little doll!!! She does a very good job of feeling her way around and is already learning to let her other senses help her out in getting around. She’s already tried doing a pugtona in the backyard!! Once I have more information and “Sara” is evaluated I will update with what the rescues course of treatment will be for her. I am begging for all of you folks that are visiting the PRN website to please become a Sponsor for our Miss. Sara. Should she require surgery for her eyes, it could become very costly for our Angels. They work so very hard for us; won’t you please give them a helping paw?? This is “Johnnie Be Good” reporting live from PRN Headquarters.

This is Johnny “Be Good” here at PRN headquarters. I would like to introduce PRN# 201, Steward “Gilligan”. Well “Gilligan looks a little more like Skipper than “Gilligan” but that is just my opinion. “Gilligan was surrendered to PRN because he was marking in the house. You see there was a new human sister in the house and “Gilligan was not getting the attention he was used to. Pugs will do this to get attention whether it is good attention or bad. Well, he will charm you with his looks and his little tongue that sticks out when he gazes at you. “Gilligan does like to play games to if he does not get your attention he will grab the toilet paper and run through the house. He said his foster home does not find it funny but he did chuckle when he was telling me this story. “Gilligan” is very photogenic and loves the camera. PRN will continue to work on his house training. If you would like to adopt “Gilligan” please submit an application with PRN# 201. If you cannot adopt “Gilligan” then please consider sponsoring him.

This is “Johnnie Be Good” PRN Junior Anchor in training coming to you live from Pug Headquarters where our newest arrival to the “Ava Sue” Second chance at Life Sanctuary program has well, arrived… Let me introduce PRN#190 Mr. “Bernie Sinclair”. I had the opportunity to interview Bernie over the weekend. Here is his sad story.

One of PRN’s wonderful Volunteers made the long drive up north to rescue Bernie. When she got to the shelter, Bernie was being kept in a very small trailer with cats. It was so stifling hot inside the trailer too!! She was so glad she got there when she did, in >case you didn’t know, us Pugs do not do well in the heat!!! Bernie was seen by one of our wonderful veterinarians at Oakland Animal Hospital and had a pretty good check up. We believe Bernie is about 10 years old. Bernie has had his teeth cleaned and he was up for the challenge. He didn’t even lose any!! Bernie also was put on special eye drops for now, he has a bit of cloudiness in his eyes and his eye pressures were a little elevated so it’s something the angels will have to keep an eye on. My friend Bernie has some behavioral issues that my angels are helping him over come. Bernie doesn’t like when people get real close to his face. I think he’s been abused before and hit in the face. He also doesn’t like when other dogs get in his personal space. He gets a little “snarkie” that’s a word my Mom uses!! I think maybe Bernie was pushed around in his previous life by other rude dogs and nobody protected him. My Foster Mom says Bernie could be “Ava Sues” brother he reminds her so much of Ava Sue when she first came into rescue.

I will keep you updated on my friend Bernie’s progress as I get further updates. In the mean time, if you could keep Bernie in your thoughts and prayers I sure would appreciate it. I know my friend Bernie has had a hard life, but I think he’s starting to understand the love and understanding that I and the others in rescue have found in the hearts of the volunteers of Pug Rescue Network.

Please consider making a donation to the “Ava Sue 2nd Chance at Life Fund to help Pugs like Bernie who are in their "Golden Years ".

Meet Duke Trevor of Manchester , but you can just call him Duke. Duke comes to Pug Rescue Network via Ohio Pug Rescue because there was more space available to better give him the care and attention he deserves. Duke is a good looking, (although a little skinny) playful 5 year old boy. He is housebroken and crate trained.. He is turning out to be a real cuddler and loves to have his belly rubbed. Not much information came with Duke so he will be evaluated so we know what would be the best home for Duke to be placed in. While in rescue any behavioral issue that comes up will be addressed and resolved. So far he has been very well behaved and well mannered. Duke has already seen the PRN vet and was brought up to date on his shots. He is being treated for hookworm and once that is cleared up he will be neutered and microchipped.

This is Johnny “Be Good” reporting. I would love to introduce PRN# 200 Tess A. Licious. Tess was brought into rescue because she was not getting along with her pug brother. You see Tess was fighting with him and he already suffered from seizures. So Tess’s family decided it would be in her brother’s best interest to send Tess to rescue and it would help with her brother’s seizures. You see her pug brother was 10 years old. I am happy to report her brother’s seizures have been cut in half since she left! Well a little about Tess she is in puggy boot camp and continues to get better with her attitude everyday. Tess is a puppy at heart and wants to play fetch till your arm falls off.   Tess is a little girl weighing in at a healthy 15 pounds. She was born on 5/19/2007 so she just turned 2 years old. PRN will continue her evaluation and then place her in the best possible home. Tess will be with other pugs and she will be monitored closely. If you are interested in Tess please submit an application with Tess’s name and PRN#202. If you cannot adopt Tess but would like to sponsor her she would love that as well. XOXO

Hello Everyone!!!! This is Johnny “Be Good” reporting. It has been crazy around here at Pug Rescue Network! Well let me introduce you to PRN# 202 Birdie Belle Blossom. Belle is a 7-year old young fawn female that is cute as a button. Belle was rescued on August 27, 2007 because her family had to move and could not take Belle with them. Well, Belle has acquired several nicknames since being here at PRN, like Belle Pepper, Belle South, and Birdie Belle Blossom. Belle thinks it is cute and she wonders about some of the names like Belle South? She says that she never was a communications expert but she does like you to talk to her then she will speak back. The name Belle Pepper came out when her foster dad was out in the garden picking bell peppers. I guess he thought it was funny. Oh well you can see she is loved here at PRN. Belle is a very good girl with great recall. She has been seen by the PRN vets and once her teeth are cleaned this week she will be ready to find her forever home. If you are interested please submit an application and put PRN# 202, “Birdie Belle Blossom” on it. If you cannot adopt Belle she would love for you to sponsor her!
